Medical Director of Technology Innovation and Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute

Dr. Habash is the Medical Director, Technology Innovation for Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She was named to the Ophthalmologist Power List, an honor recognizing the top 50 rising stars in the world "who will lead ophthalmology over the next few decades and shape its future." Dr. Habash helps drive the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons’ telemedicine initiative. With the Telemedicine Task Force, she co-authored the Intro to Tele-Ophthalmology Guide. As a fun aside, she was the official eye surgeon for the UFC organization, providing surgical and trauma care for the MMA fighters.

Dr. Habash is also Chief Medical Officer of Everbridge and Co-Founder of HipaaChat. She was listed by Becker's Hospital Review as a Top Healthcare Entrepreneur to Know. As a publicly-traded global leader in critical communications, Everbridge has integrated HipaaChat’s secure messaging and telemedicine within its Critical Event Management software, serving 1000+ healthcare customers. As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Habash provides strategic clinical insight for Everbridge’s business development, sales, and product teams, while collaborating with companies like Apple and Verizon to modernize communication for health systems. This includes HIPAA-compliant communication between doctors, nurses, and staff, activation of code alerts, IoT monitoring of medical devices, and coordinating patient care between hospitals, ambulances, and emergency
services on a city-wide and state-wide scale.

Most recently, Dr. Habash has combined her medical and product backgrounds to become Program Manager for a global Artificial Intelligence project between Microsoft and Bascom Palmer. Using machine learning, the most pertinent questions plaguing ophthalmology can be answered to facilitate protocols and cures for eye diseases around the world. As Program Manager, Dr. Habash uses her expertise in clinical applications and the business of medicine to determine clinical applications for the technology and execute on the business development of the project.
