For more than 20 years, Carrie Jacobs, COE, has specialized in Ophthalmology. Carrie started her Ophthalmic career in 1996 at Lindstrom, Samuelson, & Hardten, now known as Minnesota Eye Consultants. In 1999, Carrie accepted the position of Business Development & Marketing Director at Chu Vision Institute, a state-of-the-art ophthalmology practice dedicated to utilizing the most advanced technologies and treatments to improve quality of life for patients. It is also one of the few practices in the nation where FDA clinical research is frequently conducted to further advance eye treatments and technology. In 2003, Carrie became the Practice Administrator.
Carrie has worked alongside Y. Ralph Chu, MD, founder of Chu Vision Institute and international physician instructor on cataract and intraocular lens implantations, phakic lens implantations, laser vision correction technologies and ocular therapeutic treatments. Carrie has become a key innovator at Chu Vision having managed several critical elements of the private practice ranging from marketing and financial management to implementing electronic health records (2007) and opening Chu Surgery Center (2009), an accredited ophthalmic ambulatory surgery center.
In 2011, Carrie became a Certified Ophthalmic Executive (COE) signifying the ophthalmic administrator has demonstrated a stellar level of knowledge and technical competence in the field of practice administration. That includes work experience, coursework and COE examination requirements. She is actively involved in AAOE and ASOA, currently serving on the board of directors. She has also served on multiple committees and is the current chair of the Caribbean Eye meeting. She has also lectured and participated as a panelist at national ophthalmic symposiums, written numerous articles and served on the editorial board for Administrative Eyecare.
Carrie has been appointed Executive Vice President of Operations for Chu Vision Institute and serves as Administrator and is part of the Governing Body of Chu Surgery Center. Carrie manages a team of 50 employees and managers.
Carrie lives in Burnsville, Minnesota with her husband and three children. She enjoys cooking, reading, fitness and is an avid runner and marathoner.
