Laurie Brown is a senior consultant for VMG Health based in Tucson, Ariz. In her role at VMG, Ms. Brown consults with a variety of individual, group, and corporate clients to identify specific needs and issues while providing enduring strategic solutions that achieve the objectives of all stakeholders.

A distinguished ophthalmic administrator and educator, Ms. Brown brings more than 30 years of health care experience to VMG. She has extensive experience in administration and management roles and a strong clinical/surgical background which includes surgical assistance and oversight of FDA-monitored core studies of new ophthalmic technologies. She is certified as a professional coder and medical auditor.

Prior to joining VMG, Ms. Brown concluded a prominent career with Drs. Fine, Hoffman & Sims, LLC, a world-renowned cataract and refractive surgery practice in Eugene, Ore. Throughout her ophthalmic career, she has served on the boards of National Board for Certification of Ophthalmic Executives, ASOA, JCAHPO, and currently serves on the Ophthalmic Professional magazine advisory board and on the Ophthalmic World Leaders (OWL) governing board. She is a frequent educator at national ophthalmic meetings and has assisted in live cataract surgery demonstrations in five countries in conjunction with surgeon education meetings. She has extensive experience converting to electronic medical records.

In addition, Ms. Brown has published numerous articles in medical, association, and industry journals. In 2015, she received OWL’s Catalyst Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership in supporting the advancement of women, and she was one of the first recipients of the ASOA William E. Rose, Jr. Pinnacle Award for regulatory compliance excellence.

Ms. Brown graduated summa cum laude from Northwest Christian University and, in 2012, earned the school’s Victor P. Morris Award, which is presented to the graduate of the Professional Studies Program considered by faculty as the most outstanding on the basis of academic excellence and leadership. She achieved her MBA in 2014.
